Aiana endeavors to bring the humble man behind the busy doctor and salutes his wisdom to reach out to his own people.

1.Why did you choose to become a doctor?
During my childhood, my parents were often sick and I have seen them making rounds to Hospital including admission that slowly made me think of becoming Doctor once I grow up

2. Why have you chosen this field of specialty?
Initially, during post graduate training, i was thinking of becoming a cardiologist but slowly when I researched on prospects of different branches than I found that there was NOT a single certified Oncologist in Bihar which had such a high population density. One of the major roles was played by my guide who himself was cardiologist but persuaded me to pursue Oncology as a career.

3. What is your professional experience as a doctor?
My professional experience as Doctor is that its highly time-consuming. It took entire 20 years for me from passing Matriculations to became DM (Medical Oncology) including the various phases of preparation. In return most of the people want you to treat them in free, though at the end of the day its satisfying seeing some of my patients being cured from the so called invariably deadly cancer.

4. What are the unique and different skills you have, as a doctor?
As a doctor especially as Medical Oncologist i had been dealing with sick patients with all short of attendants, so now i am not fearful of any ups and down. A poor cancer patients who cant afford his treatment make me sick some time and any how by our personal support we try to help him.

5. Please share your journey of life till now.
I have did MBBS from Medical College, Kolkata through CBSE PMT (1998-2004), MD (Medicine) from PMCH through All India PG (2006-2009) and joined Senior Residency in AIIMS Delhi in 2010 in the department of Medical Oncology and cleared entrance examinations for DM, Medical Oncology from AIIMS in 2011. That time there was only 1 seat in DM ( Medical oncology) at AIIMS so it was short of Almighty blessings that heard my prayers. After completing my DM in Medical Oncology from AIIMS, New Delhi i joined PARAS Hospital Patna as Consultant Medical Oncologist in January 2015. While in PARAS i started my clinic BUDDHA Cancer Centre as 2 bedded day care centre in May 2015. I resigned from PARAS in October 2016 and devoted my full time to Buddha Cancer Centre. The journey which started with 2 bedded Cancer centre is now 20 bedded exclusive Cancer Hospital that covers chemotherapy, surgery and palliative care of all cancer patients.

7. Your way of handling emergencies and the workload:
I try to be calm but act fast. Some time if there is too much work then i distribute it among other colleagues.

8. What is your routine on a daily basis?
Wake up by 6 o’clock in morning and do some Yoga or jogging for 1 hour. Spend time with my baby and wife and then reach Hospital by 9 am. I look after indoor and OPD patient try to leave Hospital by 7 PM anyhow. Spend rest time with family. Nearly 50% of my weekend I am out for conferences and cancer awareness CME so that so that I could gain the latest knowledge and spread the oncology related knowledge to doctors in different parts of Bihar.

9. Do you as a doctor have any weakness or strength?
I think I am a bit emotional that is my weakness and I am still the same person in any Medical Emergency and try to handle without any fear.

10. What are your achievements till date?
I had published my research paper on Head and Neck cancer in reputed Radiation Oncology journal. Presented paper at ESMO and different conferences in India. Had done more than 50 cancer awareness CME till now.

11. What is your ability to face the challenges both medical and personal?

I think I don’t take any decision in hurry until and unless it is a medical emergency. I am honest with the prognosis of my patients who happen to be cancer patients, so once knowing poor prognosis which happens in most of the cases then sometime they run away from me but those who are under my treatment then they rarely have any complain. In personal life in any challenging condition I take opinion from my friends and colleagues but finally I believe on own personal descision.

Yes
